West Bengal SIR 2026: adjudication and Tribunal appeals report
In West Bengal, 60,06,675 electors were under SIR adjudication for logical discrepancies. Judicial officers found 32,77,360 eligible, who were included in the e-roll, and 27,28,500 not eligible, who were deleted. Both groups are now before the SIR Appellate Tribunal: deleted voters appealing against their exclusion, and the ECI or third parties appealing against the inclusion of voters included after adjudication.
Official AC-wise figures (electors under adjudication, found eligible, found not eligible): provided by the ECI in reply to an RTI application by Shri Isha Khan Choudhury, Member of Parliament, Dakshin Malda, dated 17/08/2026, vide memo no. 8551-Home(Elec). Civic Research Group checked individual EPICs on the Tribunal appeal portal between 5 September and 20 October 2026. For appeals checked before 18 September 2026 the portal showed the Tribunal’s outcome (approved by Tribunal or rejected by Tribunal). After the ECI made a one-time password (OTP) mandatory for checking an individual EPIC’s appeal status, that detail is no longer accessible to us, so the report shows such appeals as disposed by the Tribunal with the outcome unknown.
Appeals against exclusion (deleted voters)
Appeals against exclusion: of the 27,28,500 deleted voters in West Bengal, 22,17,619 (81.3%) applied to the SIR Tribunal and 4,88,438 did not apply. 21,73,997 appeals are pending and 43,622 have been disposed: 30,828 approved by the Tribunal, 6,444 rejected by the Tribunal and 6,350 disposed by the Tribunal with the outcome unknown. Our data covers 27,06,057 of the 27,28,500 deleted voters (99.2%).

Appeals against inclusion: our data covers 32,53,401 voters included in the e-roll after adjudication in West Bengal (of 32,77,360 found eligible). The ECI or a third party filed appeals in the SIR Tribunal against 16,08,175 of them: 15,26,933 pending and 81,242 disposed by the Tribunal (outcome unknown). 16,45,226 have no appeal filed.

In an affidavit filed in the Supreme Court (reported on 21 September 2026), the ECI put the appeals before the SIR Tribunals at 38,31,429: 22,21,118 against exclusion and 16,10,311 against inclusion, with 37,05,235 pending. It is the only official confirmation of these totals.
